چکیده
An individual readout of silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) would enhance the performance modern positron emission tomography (PET) systems. However, as it difficult to achieve in practice, a multiplexing SiPM arrays could be performed instead. In this study, we characterized three PET detector modules utilizing different models with active areas 3 × 3, 4 4, and 6 mm2. Each array was coupled LYSO crystal block. For multiplexing, used discretized positioning circuit obtain position energy information, applied first-order capacitive high-pass filter time-of-flight measurement capability detector. The similar among arrays, an resolution 10%–11%. best timing achieved area mm2, which yielded coincidence (CTR) value 401 ps FWHM when analog applied. We expect that, combination high-performance techniques, mm2 can provide cost-effective solution for developing whole-body scanner.

متن کاملStudy of Silicon Photomultipliers for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Application
A relatively new photodetector, the silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), is well suited for PET applications. It has similar sensitivity and gain to the industry standard photomultiplier tube (PMT), but has advantages such as smaller size and insensitivity to magnetic field. These properties make this detector an active area of research in the PET field. I will study a simplified setup, comprised of...
متن کاملA large area, silicon photomultiplier-based PET detector module.
The introduction of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) has facilitated construction of compact, efficient and magnetic field-hardened positron emission tomography (PET) scanners. To take full advantage of these devices, methods for using them to produce large field-of-view PET scanners are needed. In this investigation, we explored techniques to combine two SiPM arrays to form the building block f...
متن کاملSignal Driven Multiplexing of Silicon Photomultiplier Arrays
SensL C-, Jand R-Series SiPM sensors have a fast, capacitively coupled output that gives a high speed output signal, which is suitable for timing applications. Summing the fast output directly is not recommended as this would negatively affect the resulting signal. By introducing a diode pair (fast Schottky) as shown in Figure 1, the Fast signal from the active SiPM is transferred to the Common...
متن کاملThe effect of fasting on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging
As a nuclear approach, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a functional imaging technique which is based on the detection of gamma ray pairs emitted by a positron-emitting radionuclide. There are certain limitations to this technique such as normal tissue uptake. Therefore, it has been recommended that patients prepare before scanning. Fasting for a short while before PET imaging is an exampl...
